Eulogy by Richard Fernandes on 16/04/2008

Eulogy to a friend and colleague Srinivas Wadawadigi was fondly known to all of us as Mr Wadi. It is sad that we have lost an effective member of our team who did so much for patient care in our community and the department of orthopaedics. I have known him for at least 10 years. I can clearly recall my first meeting with him on the day I took up my job at Good Hope. He instantly came across as a kind and helpful person. All through my stay at Good Hope he has been nothing but a great source of strength in a variety of ways. Outside of hospital too he was responsible for introducing me to the concept of self knowledge through a common guru Swami Suddhananda for which I am ever grateful. This knowledge has helped us both in facing the ups and downs of life with a sense of ease I know he has been great father, always proud of Badri, a loving husband and also a loving son who looked after both his parents even till his last days. I have known him to be fighter, fighting for his own rights and the rights of others. He provided leadership being the regional vice chairman of the SAS doctors through the BMA. He believed in self development and never gave up hope. On more than one occasion he has told me – Richard, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, we need to keep going... His last journey on Tamworth road to the crematorium last Thursday was a journey that he would have normally taken every Thursday to reach the Robert Peel Hospital where he worked in addition to Good Hope. I have no doubt that God will grant him eternal peace and everlasting happiness for all his good deeds. A reading from the book of Psalms- ‘The Divine Shepherd’: The lord is my shepherd, I shall not want He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
